Texas Holdem Poker Rules
No limit texas holdem poker is played on a round or oval table. It requires a minimum of two players, but is best played with six or more players. On the table there is always a dealer, if playing online or at the casino, a dealer is provided, otherwise each player will take turns in dealing and is marked with a white puck shaped disc called the button. Action starts when the dealer is decided and the two players to the left of the dealer post the small blind, first to the left, and a big blind, second to the left of the dealer. Each player is then dealt two cards and players starting from the left of the big blind can choose to fold, raise or call the big blind bet to enter the hand. Players then subsequently fold, raise or call the bet, with the big blind having the option of checking to an unraised blind or raising, folding or calling if the blinds have been raised. This concludes the first round of betting. Three cards are then dealt face up, called the flop, and the next round of betting starts from the left of the dealer. Players have an option of checking, raising, folding or calling a bet. After this second round of betting is complete, the next card is dealt, called the turn, and the third round of betting commences. One more card is dealt after the turn, the river and the fourth round of betting commences, before cards are turned faced up. The winner of the hand is the player who has the best five card hand using both the two cards the player has, called hole cards, and the five community cards in the middle of the table. The player can just use one hole card or both hole cards to make the best hand. The player with the best hand then collects the chips from the table. Chips can represent tournament chips with no real money denomination or cash chips where each chip has a monetary value.
